On 06/09/2017, at 3:45 PM, Augusta University Police responded to a report of a stolen ambulance from the AU Medical Center Ambulance Bay. Officers discovered that a released patient from EMS had taken the Gold Cross Ambulance #30. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the stolen vehicle and a deputy stopped the vehicle after a brief pursuit on I-20 at Wheeler Road. The subject was taken into custody and booked in the Richmond County Jail on traffic changes and theft by taking motor vehicle. The undamaged ambulance, was processed and turned over to the owner.
